Dr. Flegal is rude, judgmental and aggressive. She lacks tact, and dis-likes mental issues. She was putting my wife down. Unless you have a broken foot, leg etc she will NOT be interested in helping you..

My husband and I spent 5 hours waiting in the emergency room at the hospital. When we were finally seen by Dr. Flegal, she came into our waiting area, yelling at us that our reason for coming in was “inappropriate” and proceeded to scold us like we were children. My husband has been sick with a nasty stomach bug and she did not seem to think that this was a reason to come to emergency. She said that we were wasting her time and that because my husband was feeling a bit better today, it was not necessary for us to be there. She yelled all Of this to us for all of the waiting room to hear and had the curtain wide open, not leaving much in the way for confidentiality. I felt incredibly disrespected and I know that both my husband and I were embarrassed by her behaviour. I understand that waiting times in the emergency can be long and that hospital staff can be very busy and overworked, but her attitude and approach was very far from professional.

Dr. Flegal did not introduce herself to my daughter or myself. She came in and made short work of telling us we were wasting her time even though both health link and my daughter's therapist had instructed us to go to the ER to see the on-call psychiatrist, as my daughter was really struggling with potential side effects of her medication. Dr. Flegal refused to consider that my young daughter's physical symptoms could be related to her medications, one of which can cause cardiac symptoms that she was experiencing and her stomach was causing pain to the point she was clawing at it and refusing to eat. She told me it was all her anxiety, told me that the ER was not equipped to help her, and that she would be "fine" to wait a few weeks to see her specialist. She did not examine my daughter or even really acknowledge her. We left feeling defeated and ignored. Her bedside manner left a lot to be desired and the only thing she seemed to be adept at was making people feel small and stupid.

After hours of waiting at ER, I was introduced to this doctor where she basically told me off and said nothing was wrong. Well a week later I find out what is really wrong and find lesions in my brain. Seriously hate how if it isnt a textbook injury you are brushed off and looked through. Sit back and think maybe something is actually going on instead of brushing people in serious pain off. It bothers me how people are hurting and their lives are changed but you think its a mental disorder or something else and don't care about it.
