Happy patient

Dr. Jayaraman has provided me with considerate, thoughtful and thorough care when I couldn't find any other doctors who would listen. It is obvious when I see her that she has reviewed my file and conducted further research about issues I had. She provides me with helpful and holistic information. She takes the time to sit with me and explain things in a way that makes me feel she has my best interest in mind and doesn't disregard my symptoms the way many other physicians have.

Didn't have very good English language. Gave me wrong medication, which landed me in Emerg. Lied to me & dr. Put my life at risk by leaving me high & dry with no Dr.! I have failing kidneys & other serious medical problems. Meantime I was looking for another Dr. when she told me " you have too many problems for me"! Also, on this last visit I brought my son in with just to be a witness & he could not believe what very little she said to me! I'm very disappointed that we actually have doctors here who do not seem to know their job!!

I went to this Dr as a new patient. She said I had to go through a panel of board members in order to be accepted and that I may be turned down on the grounds that I have a service dog. When she called me in from the waiting room and saw my service dog, instead of enquiring as to what he is for, she told me to sit down and left me waiting for twenty minutes. During this time she snuck a note out to the receptionist to ask what the dog was doing in the office. Once the receptionist confirmed he is a service dog (obviously the bright orange service vest was not enough of a clue) Dr. Jayaraman brought me into her office asked me a handful of questions which I have documented, and then lied to me about the panel (which is a confirmed lie by reception) and said I would hear from her within the week. Reception states that the choice is the Dr's and there is no panel and the Dr is the one who should call!! This is a Hunan rights violation!!

discontent

Awful personal skills, unwilling to discuss issues, uninformed as to why I'm there, no apparent recollection of prior treatments/ailments. Fired me as patient when I expressed frustration. Found that the receptionist (God bless her) did more for me (lining up specialist appointments and calling with results, finding out if requisitions were actually submitted etc.) than Jayaraman ever did. We all have frustrations in life, and generally we discuss, learn and overcome or in her case, kick 'em to the curb!

I recently started to see Dr. Chitra Jayaraman when my previous doctor resigned her practice. So far I am pretty happy to have found a doctor who is experienced and in my age bracket rather than someone fresh out of medical school. She even has a sense of humour. I found everything about her fine and appropriate. It is worth noting that there are not many reviews to draw from. I suspect that many of her patients are much older from the Tamil community and so they may not be up on this review stuff. My recommendation is to get in while you still can as it is hard to find an experienced female doctor who is accepting new patients. Big bonus for me is the super convenient location near Broadway skytrain.
