dr. M. gave a diagnoses over the phone to a child-welfare worker and was the reason my 3 children 10yrs to 15yrs were apprehended for a yr. until they evaluated my children. I was at Claresholm at the time and the social service lady at the centre told me they never gave a diagnoses to a govt. agency until after 1 yr. of evaluation. my letter to the administration is in a file there i believe . her bedside manner was cold and unfriendly. she did not smile at me as i walked down a long hall to meet her for the 1st time.

My experience with this person was terrible. I was on an anti-anxiety med, benzodiazepine and was taking it responsibly. She refused to renew my prescription and was quite nasty. Who knows why!!! It is extremely unsafe to quit the drug cold turkey. I would have gone into withdrawal with horrendous symptoms. Rapid withdrawal can even cause death. Luckily, I had a wonderful G.P. who prescribed it for me. I eventually learned about these drugs and my doc told me I knew more about them than G.P.s. I eventually did a slow taper, (15 months) and got off the drug. I was also was on an online website with 5 other advisers helping people who were addicted to these drugs under the tutelage of a world renowned psychiatrist. I hope Dr. McKercher has become more informed and has learned how to counsel people.

She was my assigned psychiatrist while in Clairesholm. I was in there for four months and had around 4h of total sessions with her the entire time, 15m a week. I admit that she might be a good doctor with significant time restrictions but very cold in the short time I spent with her. She diagnosed me incorrectly with BPD which ruined my post institution referral and left me for a year without a psychiatrist. She also took me off all medication including my much needed antipsychotics and ignored my complaints of not sleeping without them.
