Dr Kropelin was the doctor that was assigned to my mothers care in ICU. He came into her room and gave me his resume highlights (telling me who he had worked with , when , name dropping etc) I told him this was not a job interview all I wanted to know was what his care plan for my mom was. He told me that he hadn't read her file yet!!! He then proceeded to tell me that he wasn't happy that she was there as she was old! She had a written personal directive stating she wanted all life saving methods used, he flat out refused to honor her wishes , basically saying she was too old to bother with. He came back the next day to tell me his care plan, which was to wean her off a med that he believed was causing her heart to pause. He told me it would take about 5 half lives of the med to be out of her system. I asked how long the half life of this med was..... His reply? I don't know, do you want me to go find out and come back and tell you? SERIOUSLY??? I said NO I ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT IF THIS IS PART OF THE EQUATION TO HER CARE THEN PERHAPS YOU SHOULD KNOW IT!!!!! My mother died the next day! This man is the most arrogant egotistical jackass I have ever met! I have been told by three different doctors that treated my mom prior to her being admitted to the Grey Nuns that he should be sued for malpractice!! If he is treating you or someone you love my advice to you is RUN and get yourself or your loved on to the Royal Alex ICU the doctors there are phenomenal and could teach this idiot a thing or two!
