I had L4/L5 surgery by Dr. Jacobs. Before the surgery I was doing jackhammer and sledge hammer work. Now I cannot even lift a sledge hammer without pain. My stay was supposed to be overnight but ended up being much longer as my post-operative pain was extreme. At my 6 week follow up the Dr. ignored my comments about the pain. My quality of life has dropped dramatically since this surgery. I can see that if things go well the Dr. will take credit but if things go poorly he will not assume responsiblity.I would expect more from a "professional" person. There should be more open and frank, honest dialogue between Dr. and patient and the character to assume responsibility when things go wrong.

I was diagnosed with cervical stenosis with myelopothy back in 2001. I had seen different specialists over this for over 10 years. I was bounced all over the place. No one could do anything for me. I was in continual pain, had constant numbness in my arms and fingers and they were continually burning. I was up 10-15 times a night over this. My muscles were deteriorating rapidly and I had difficulty walking and doing menial tasks such as buttoning my shirt or signing my name. I moved out of the north in 2010 and picked up on a new doctor. I had my file transferred to his office in Dec 2012 and he immediately called me in and ordered several tests and an MRI. He then referred me to see Dr. Jacobs in Feb 2013. When I saw Dr. Jacobs he said this should have been looked after years ago. He said this should never have taken this long. He then scheduled me for cervical spinal decompression for June. I had my surgery in June 2013 and I have to tell you, when I woke up after the surgery I could feel my arms once again, they did not hurt and no longer burned. No more tingling and numbness. Dr. Jacobs gave me a new life and I am forever grateful for what he did for me. I can, without any hesitation, recommend Dr. Jacobs for any spinal conditions you have. He was attentive, very polite, knowledgeable, compassionate and thorough in his explanations to me throughout the entire process. I cannot thank you enough Dr. Jacobs. I am so grateful to have had such a skilled surgeon such as yourself perform this complex operation.
