I will never go back to Dr. Vadeboncoeur, and I would recommend that anyone looking for a helpful, knowledgeable doctor avoid her too. I went in to the Burnside Family Medical Clinic because I was having an asthma attack. I had tried my Ventolin inhaler so often that it was now nearly empty, and it wasn't working. I told Dr. Vadeboncoeur my situation, and that I needed to use the nebulizer. She wanted to prescribe me Advair and Ventolin. It was obvious that she wasn't listening to me, since I had just said Ventolin wasn't working, and she wanted me to take more. She also advised that I start Advair, which she said would give me relief today. (Every other doctor I have seen, and every bit of research I have done, states that it takes 2 weeks of regular Advair use to have any effect.) I insisted on the nebulizer, and she eventually allowed me to use it. I finally experienced relief. Neither she nor her nurses ever came back to check on how I was doing, so when I was done, I left. This was the most frustrating, uncaring doctor's visit I have ever experienced. As an asthma sufferer for 18 years, I know my body and I know what works for me. I should not have had to argue with her for the relief I needed, when I could barely breathe. On a different occasion, my husband visited Dr. Vadeboncoeur after he contracted food poisoning. (He was diagnosed by a doctor in our hometown and went to Vadeboncoeur as we were visiting, and he hadn't improved after 2 weeks.) She advised that he eat only bananas, rice, and yogurt, and we went on our way. His symptoms were worsening after 2 more weeks, so we visited yet another doctor, who told us that dairy products such as yogurt should never be eaten after food poisoning, and in fact her advice had made him worse. He followed this new doctor's advice, and promptly got better. To make a long story short, Dr. Vadeboncoeur doesn't listen to her patients, prescribes ineffective (or just plain wrong!) treatments, and I and my husband will never go to her again.
