I am a Registered Nurse and have called Alicia Donahue my physician on and off for almost 30 years. I have had to now take her inaction to the CPSO twice. The first time because she was well aware that there had been an error in diagnosis and refused to change the diagnosis that was confirmed in 2009. In 2010, she was reported to the CPSO and they found no problem. She has now been reported to the CPSO for the same reason, and, in addition, she has failed to report ELDER ABUSE and ABUSE OF A DISABLED PERSON to the police as is her duty and obligation as a physician in Ontario. This doctor ignores complaints of abuse and even suggests that the person abused have a meeting and attend counselling with her to discuss the matter with the person being abused. In terms of senior care, she is a danger. In terms of a disabled person being abused, she is a danger and cannot be trusted to report abuse. I have taken my own son to see her for many years and she had always ensured he was vaccinated and his school records were up to date. Over the past several years, she has felt that she could take the place of any specialist. Often times refusing to refer to a specialist and she has taken over the specialist work of counselling and psychology or psychiatry. When asked for a referral to a psychological specialist such as a psychologist, she makes appointments with patients and does it herself weekly charging OHIP. She has refused grief counselling to families and made appointments or attended the homes of persons in grief, listened to them and called it counselling and charged OHIP. When advised of abuse, she suggests that the person abusing and the person abused attend her office for counselling. She becomes the counsellor and disregards the laws and the police system in place to handle criminal abuse. Unfortunately, Dr. Alicia Donahue thinks she can be every specialist and can do every job that any specialist can do. She has now over the last several years become a psychiatrist and a psychologist without the proper training and education required by the province. A psychologist and psychiatrist would report any form of abuse regardless of the situation, as would any nurse or healthcare worker as is mandated in Ontario. Dr. Donahue plays GOD and disregards the laws of her own profession as well as the laws that the police have in place to protect all people from abuse. It my opinion as a patient of some 30 years and a nurse that she has become both incompetent to do her job as a family / general practioner and she has become a danger to all patients who have a complaint of abuse. Today, I would not feel comfortable bringing a child who claims abuse to Dr. Alicia Donahue as she would likely set up meetings on a weekly basis to discuss the abuse between an abusing parent and an abused child rather than contact the CAS or the police. Not to mention, I, a patient of Dr. Donahue still has a false diagnosis on file that I am forced to bring to the police and the CPSO to have corrected. In fact, when I advised her and asked if she really thought this was a correct diagnosis, she laughed and said; "yes". It was all a big joke that she continued to have the wrong diagnosis on my medical file. Please ensure that your family is safe. Christine Longtin, RN, LOMA, HIAA
