This doctor was the most inconsiderate, uninformed person I have ever met. Not only did he sever a relationship between the client and himself when the client said that he wanted a new doctor, but he did not even receive a referral. He told the doctor he had contemplated suicide and Dr. cooper told him he wasn't going to talk about that and if he needed to go to the hospital, he should walk over there and have himself committed because it wasn't his responsibility. I would rather have hot needles shoved into my eyes than have a conversation, or let anyone I know or love, have a conversation with this man.

Went to see as not sure if I needed to see a psychiatrist but was sent by my family doc. He was very blunt and to the point. Told me that his job is to deal with mentally ill not solve a patients life issues or problems. Also told me straight up that in no way would I get prescription for drugs on first visit etc. I found him very knowledgeable and also very socially aware of the problems in the medical system. He is more than aware that people are looking for drugs to solve problems and he won't play that game. Made me realize I am not mentally ill. Yes I have issues but who doesn't. Only I can solve them. Yes, blunt but I needed that and I suspect he sees a lot of people who want quick fixes and/or drugs and they don't like it when he realistically says he cannot do either!
