I had an eyelid procedure performed earlier this year which required the stitches from the operation to be removed by a physician 1 week after the procedure was performed.I was given an appointment to have the stitches removed, which was scheduled at the jim pattison outpatient centre.i was scheduled for a 11:30 appointment to see dr lee,(who was the doctor who performed the procedure on my eyes.) I had no problem with this, as the doctor wo performed the eyelid procedure was first class, and I assumed the follow up doctor would be much like the doctor who performed the procedure, as they work out of the same office. It was obvious immediately upon meeting doctor lee that he wasn't at all interested in doing his job that day.it was 11:58 am, all the patients were cleared out for lunch and I was the last patient for him to see.the appointment was to remove stitches from my eyelids.I was sitting down when he approached me and through the entire duration of the appointment (2 minutes), he would not even bend down to look at my eyes. He insisted the stitches would dissolve. I had a minor complaint which I voiced to him, with respect to how my eyes were healing. He insinuated by his response that I wasn't entitled to anything more than eyesight improvement and how my eyes and eyelids appeared aesthetically were irrelevant, because my procedure was covered by bc medical.i was very dissapointed with how I was treated by this man when I left because he was to remove stitches, and he wouldn't even look at me.Also as I said he implied that he thinks it's okay for bc medical to be billed for a subpar procedure. As it turned out, the doctor that performed the procedure did an excellent job. I managed to put the bad experience with dr lee out of my mind until three weeks later when my wife noticed a stitch sticking out of my eyelid one night.i went to the bathroom and pulled two 1 1-2" long pieces of what looked to be light gauge fishing line out of my left eyelid. The process was quite unpleasant, made worse by the fact that I couldn't find the stitches in the other eye which were obviously buried after 3 weeks of healing(this was three weeks after dr lee was to remove them, but was clearly prioritizing his lunch break over doing his job,as I said my appointment with him began at 11:58 am, and ended at 11:59,at his request). It is my opinion that dr lee, being in the medical profession, should take his job much more seriously, as his colleagues do.
